I was surprised to see that Instagram was named App of the Year by the folks at Apple who run the AppStore.

I own the app and I have used it perhaps twice. As an owner of over 500 apps, this would not have made it in my top ten, let alone take the coveted number #1 slot.

My top five apps would be:

5. Air Video

4. Evernote

3. Noteshelf

2. Flipboard

and the ultimate winner:

1. HeyTell. 

Everyone loves walkie talkies, this app just plain works and works well. It avoids having to text and drive and the simplicity is beyond compare.
